A Trip to Paradise

We recently traveled to Barbados. I have struggled to describe our trip, because the truth is we didn’t do much. Our lack of activity notwithstanding, it was still a lovely time.

We stayed at The Crane Resort. Located on the eastern—Atlantic Ocean—side of the island. Therefore, we didn’t have a chance to experience the calm, transparent waters of the Caribbean Sea—though, we did catch a brief glimpse during one of two trips we took to the other side of island.

What we missed in views of calm seas, we made up for in the beauty of the resort itself. Set on a cliff overlooking the ocean, the property is absolutely gorgeous.

What I loved most, though, was the ocean breeze. Invigorating and refreshing, it met us each day, no matter the time of day. And, in the evening, it filled our room as we slept, sliding doors ajar.

The grounds of the resort were impressive. Fellow inhabitants included monkeys and hummingbirds. Lizards ate flying insects as we walked to and from our suite. Birds of all types flew about the trees and open-air restaurant seating. The evening chorus of whistling frogs was impossible to ignore.

I wish I could have taken more pictures, and I wish more of the ones I did take had come out better, but, if nothing else, the trip was a reminder that the best thing you can do while in paradise is to simply enjoy the moment.
